Constipation is a common problem which is incomplete,
infrequent or difficult bowel movements. Constipation
can be a temporary problem for some and for some it can be a continuous problem
and there are different causes for it and once the cause is known, it is easier
to overcome it. Some life style habits
are like consuming low fiber food, insufficient
drinking of liquids, lot of stress/anxiety, effects of certain medicines and
ignoring the urge to go to relieve yourself are the causes of constipation. Some medical conditions like pregnancy,
diabetes, hypothyroidism, irritable bowel syndrome also causes constipation
problem.
You can eliminate or control constipation by eating healthy
foods and not eating improper or wrong type of food. Consumption of more and more fibers which are
found in many vegetables, grains and fruits can overcome constipation. Avoid foods
which have very low fiber or no fiber like ice cream, cheese, pizza and
processed foods and include some fiber in your diet every day. Exercising regularly helps the digestive
system to stay active and healthy and hence one should exercise at least for
half an hour every day. Have plenty of
water which results in soft stools and also contributes to relieve constipation
and if you feel the urge then do not
delay and immediately relieve yourself.
